Verus Technology Group is a U.S.-based defense technology company that develops counter-drone systems, solutions to detect, track, and neutralize airborne threats for military, government, and high-security civilian applications. Founded in 2014, Verus was acquired by BlueHalo in 2023, recognized as a leader in the rapidly evolving counter-UAS market.
The Challenge
Defense technology has unique digital requirements. Buyers, defense procurement, government agencies, security-cleared customers, need credibility, capability depth, and clear technical positioning, but the public-facing website cannot disclose anything operationally sensitive. The previous Verus website failed both audiences: it was too thin to demonstrate capability to serious buyers, and inadvertently exposed information that should have been gated. The redesign needed to thread that needle precisely.
Our Approach
We worked closely with Verus leadership and their security team to map what could be public-facing, what required gated access, and what required no online disclosure at all. This wasn't a brand exercise, it was a content strategy and information-architecture project where regulatory and operational considerations shaped every decision. The design language had to feel credible to defense buyers without veering into camouflage clichés or aggressive imagery that misrepresents the product.
Design & Build
The visual identity uses restrained typography, technical iconography, and editorial pacing that signals seriousness without theatrics. Capability content is structured progressively, public capabilities, partner-level capabilities (gated), and customer-level capabilities (gated further), letting prospects self-qualify and giving Verus a controlled pipeline of credentialed access. Performance and accessibility were prioritized, since many defense networks have strict requirements for both. Behind the scenes, the CMS structure supports versioned, reviewed publishing, every change is tracked, approved, and logged.
The Outcome
The redesigned Verus digital presence drove 178% more traffic, 71% greater user engagement, and 49% reach expansion, with the right kind of audience: defense buyers, government partners, and integration prospects. The site supported Verus through a critical growth phase culminating in the BlueHalo acquisition, where polished, credible digital presence was a meaningful asset in pre-deal due diligence.
